URGENT NEED FOR RELOCATION IN YALOKE
At least 470 Muslims from the Peuhl ethnic minority in the town of Yaloke are in urgent need for relocation to safer places, according to UNHCR. The group is subject to recurrent threats, verbal and physical aggression and looting. Since February, 42 people among the group have died, many of them children, from malnutrition and other diseases.
28 KILLED IN VIOLENT CLASHES IN MBRÉS
Violent clashes on 16 December in Mbrés killed 28 people including an aid worker from the Central African Red Cross. Many families reportedly have fled to the bush. The humanitarian situation in Mbrés remains alarming as the health center has been closed.

32 PEOPLE KILLED, 135 KIDNAPPED IN NORTHEAST
In northeast Nigeria, violence against civilians is persisting. On 21 December, insurgents attacked the town of Gumsuri, killing 32 people, and kidnapping at least 185 people, including women and children.
26 PEOPLE KILLED IN BOMBINGS
On Monday 22 December, two bomb explosions occurred in the cities of Bauchi and Gombe, northeastern Nigeria. In Gombe, the explosion reportedly killed at least 20 people, while the blast at the main market in Bauchi killed six people and injured 25.

19,340 CASES AND 7,518 DEATHS
As of 24 December, 19,340 confirmed, probable and suspected cases of EVD have been reported in the three most affected countries (Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone), with 7,518 reported deaths.
SAHEL
19.8 MILLION FOOD INSECURE PEOPLE NEED ASSISTANCE
Aid organizations in the Sahel on 19 December issued the Humanitarian Needs Overview for the region. An estimated 19.8 million people are currently food insecure, with 2.6 million requiring urgent food assistance. In 2015, it is estimated that 5.8 million children under five could suffer from global acute malnutrition, of whom 1.4 million will suffer from severe acute malnutrition and 4.4 million from moderate acute malnutrition. Moreover, insecurity and conflict across the region have prompted 2.8 million to flee their homes.
