Country: Kenya, Libya, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan

This edition includes:

  • Special Focus: African Union summit: Heads of state of the PSC deferred the tabling of a crucial report on South Sudan and decided to send a regional force to combat Boko Haram. A range of side meetings, notably on Libya, took place. Crucial decisions were made on issues like finding alternative sources of funding for the AU. Late-night talks between the belligerents in South Sudan failed to produce a power sharing deal.

  • PSC Interview: Ambassador Maman Sidikou, Special Representative of the African Union Commission Chairperson for Somalia, speaks about gains made against al-Shabaab.
