Highlights

  • UNICEF and partners have admitted 98,620 severely acutely malnourished children for treatment into 150 sites in conflict affected areas of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa from January to May 2014.

  • Master trainers (39) from 11 local government areas in Borno state including four from Chibok were trained by UNICEF in basic psychosocial skills to in efforts to scale up and reinforce access to psychosocial support services for children affected by conflict.

  • UNICEF has supported five polio campaigns in 2014, including in Borno and Yobe with 91 per cent of the high risk local government areas achieving greater than 80 per cent coverage.

  • Nigeria’s emergency response to women and children is largely supported through adaptation and scaling up of ongoing social services.

  • An upsurge in acts of violence since January 2014 has seen over 646,993 people displaced and 273 girls abducted in Chibok, Borno, on the 14th of April.
