Namibia:

As of 3 March 2014, 39 cholera cases and 3 deaths have been reported in Katutura, Windhoek. All patients have been discharged from the hospitals. The Red Cross is busy erecting tents for the CTCs and has requested DDRM to assist with better and stronger tents; as well as expertise from the National Defence Force to assist in putting up tents. Needs identified include provision/distribution of water purification sachets to communities, improved active surveillance of new cases and strengthening of the prevention campaign in different languages and media.

Madagascar:

Two candidates for Prime Minister were submitted to the new president of Madagascar, namely Mr Haja Resampa (Permanent Secretary in the Presidency during the transition period and an active participant of the 2009 coup) and Mr Jules Etienne Raharivony (presidential candidate during the past elections who was not allowed to run by the Special Electoral Court for not fulfilling all criteria). The new President is yet to appoint the Prime Minister.

Malawi:

Armyworm outbreaks have affected 16 districts and a total of 10,903ha, as of 11 Feb 2014.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MoAFS) provided chemicals and sprayers as well as farm inputs for replanting, and enhanced armyworm monitoring systems. The 2013/14 rain season has affected 54,280 people (10,856 households) as of 28 Feb 2014, mainly due to torrential rains and floods. DoDMA has provided relief assistance in most districts

Zimbabwe:

According to Government authorities, the Tokwe Mukorsi Dam remains stable. Approximately 2,194 households have moved to the Chingwizi resettlement camp, with an average of 100 households arriving daily, due to flooding. US$4.5m is required for the response, as gaps remain in humanitarian assistance and more people are moved to the resettlement camp.
