Highlights

  • An estimated 288,000 people have been displaced in and out of CAR since the December 2012 conflict began.

  • Global Food Prices have decreased by 7 points as compared to 2012 but food prices are up in the region.

  • Looming Food Crisis in CAR with nearly 40 per cent of the population in need of food assistance and around 11 per cent of the population at IPC Level 4 food crisis.

  • Floods have impacted nine countries in the region, affecting 378,395 people and displacing at least 40,444.

  • An estimated 690 people have been killed in 35 attacks attributed to Boko Haram in Nigeria since May 2013.

  • Malnutrition has reached Emergency levels in Mauritania where half of the country’s regions report 12 per cent of all children under five as malnourished and one in four Mauritanians as food insecure.
