IOM’s Flow Monitoring Points (FMP) provide an overview of population movements at main transit/entry hubs along the route of the displacement journey in Mali. Kindly note that the en-route figures are only able to provide a snapshot of the displacement volumes over a given period of time and only present a partial picture of overall IDP movement (only main entry/transit points are captured by the FMP en route tracking system).
Methodology
Since 12 January 2013, IOM has set up Flow Monitoring Points flow in several transit stations in Bamako, Mopti (bus and boats) and Ségou. The objective is to monitor the forced movements resulting from the outbreak of conflict on January 9, 2013. The data in this report only indicate the figures obtained by counting the flows of people (households and individuals) between 12 January and 10 February. Other activities are underway to register the newly displaced people in areas where they are settled. Two main flows are identified in this document: movements from northern regions to southern regions and return movements from southern regions to northern ones.
